 Arrived at Oulton on friday 17th July with the family to set up get scrutineered and chillout before saturday's racing, well the heavens opened and it peed down we were absolutly soaked from the rain but we managed to put up the gazebo and got sorted- happy days. The winds picked up in the night.
Saturday morning came and it was bone dry ( or at least near as could be , odd damp patch only which dried before i got out on track ).
Qualifying:
I was the first one into the holding area ,so as i sat there and looked around at the others pulling up behind me and to the side of me i thought sod it i'm gonna nail it as soon as we get to go on track and thats what i did it took 2 laps for the fastest lads to catch and pass me ( apparently i was exiting the start finish as they were coming on to the start finish) i knew i was going pretty fast as they were the only 2 that passed me in qualifying( the sweat was pouring off me when i took off my helmet ).QUALIFIED 7th(out of 21) with a 1.51__
Race 1:
Lined up on the grid set off on the warm up lap and got behind the quickest lad (who was to win both races doing 1.45's )i watched his lines he was smooth.
The red lights went out and we were off, got a bit boxed in but still only about 10th ,i chased hard and was a lot faster than a guy infront in places so i decided to get on the outside of him exiting OLD HALL but as i got on the outside of him he sat his bike up and i ended up on the grass ,onboard footage is pukka ( not put off by this 2 riders shot passed and i rejoined ) i gave chase with the intension that bugger aint getting the better of me,i reeled him in and got passed to finish in 9th lap time 1.49.30.
JUST FOUND OUT ACTUALLY FINISHED 8TH DUE TO JOINT F600 AND SUPERSTOCK CLASS
RACE 2:
The lights went out and away we go similar sort of start lap after lap the 2 guys infront were on a similar pace but again i was quicker in some places i had close racing which made it more exciting( i was expecting to be lapping in the 1.48's ) , the last lap was a close finish, as i went over the line on the penultimate lap i thought it was now or never so i tried an over take in a few places but couldn't make it stick so i knew i would have to do it at DRUIDS, the lad infront took a wider line than me and i ran right upto the apex but he came back across me so it was down to the last corner LODGE and the run through DEERS LEAP to the finish line.I got on the gas and by the line i had nearly passed both guys infront - there was .05 between 6th place and me 8th - gutted thought i had them. Lap time 1.49.79 ( bummer it felt quicker ).ALL HAD A GREAT TIME AND ENJOYED MYSELF HIT MY GOAL TO BE BELOW A 1.50 LAP.
JUST FOUND OUT I WAS ACTUALLY 6TH IN THE SECOND RACE AS THE RACE WAS COMBINED WITH F600 AND SUPERSTOCK 600 MACHINES.YIPEEEEEEEEEE
